| Featured Premium Red Wines: |
1.) Alta Vista, Malbec, Argentina, 2005, $27.99 Quite classy, the bouquet is concentrated and dense, filled with black
raspberry, licorice and spice. The fruit is powerful yet smooth on the
palate and it keeps unfolding for ages revealing layers of savory black
berries and cocoa touched by a note of earthy minerality. 92 Points & Best Buy Enthusiast

|
2.) Roux Pere et Fils, Cotes de Beaune Villages, France, 2005, $21.99 Some rich, darker fruit aromas leading to silky, juicy, strawberry fruit, plenty of depth and length with restraint. This medium- bodied Burgundy comes from one of the largest owners in Côte d'Or with 160 acres of vineyards. Three Stars Decanter |
3.) Jardin, Cabernet Sauvignon, South Africa, 2005, $21.99 This appealing, Cab offers upfront mouth filling fruit, muscular
tannins abut with an elegant, approachable character that gives it
food-friendly potential. Aromas of blackberry, mint and spice lead into
balanced waves of red fruit, vanilla and black currant. The finish is
lingering. 90 Points Enthusiast & Tiffany's 2005 Wine of the Year
|
4.) Justin Monmousseau, Sancerre, Loire, France, 2006, $21.99 This wine has a light straw yellow color. The nose is intense,
persistent, fruity and mineral. At the palate it shows plenty of
acidity, light tropical fruit, melon and white peaches. This Sancerre
can be enjoyed with a variety of dishes including shellfish, seafood
and salty cheeses
|
5.) Haderburg, Obermairl Hof, Gewurztraminer, Tirol, Italy, 2004, $31.99 No, that isn't a typo. Gewurztraminer can be (should be?) subtle. Here,
the Gewurztraminer demurely lends flesh and texture (and indeed a
certain telltale exotic perfume) to the dazzling mineral substance and
pristine organization of the scented terroir within it. This is a great
match for curried chicken.
|
6.) Colonial Estate, Chardonnay, Evangeliste, Australia, 2004, $25.99 Light gold colored with toasty, tropical aromas, particularly
pineapple. Broad on the palate with adequate acidity, the wine offers
some finesse as well as ripe, tasty flavors and a medium-long finish.
Try this with scallops in a garlic cream sauce. 90 Points Wine Advocate
